Teen Partial Hospitalization Program: Why Choose The Brook Hospitals?
Seeing your child struggle is one of the hardest things you can face as a parent. Kids today have to navigate emotions, academic pressures, relationships, social media and so much more. Sometimes traditional therapy isn’t enough to meet your teen’s needs.
The adolescent partial hospitalization program (PHP) at The Brook Hospitals provides a nurturing and understanding outpatient environment for teens ages 13 to 17 with a psychiatric illness or emotional disorder. Your teen participates in a structured program with a full day of group therapy and education and returns home each evening.
We provide a comforting and productive place for your teen to learn and grow. We help them find out more about themselves and develop skills to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
Highlights of the teen PHP include:
- A program built for teens: Therapists specialize in connecting with teenagers. They incorporate creative and interactive activities to keep your child interested and engaged in their progress.
- Nurturing environment: Our PHP offers a comfortable space where your teen can connect with other kids who understand what they’re going through. Your teen also meets one-on-one each week with a provider to talk about their challenges and progress.
- Family involvement: Healing works best when it’s shared. Teens in our program participate in at least one family session designed to strengthen bonds and help you grow together.
- Daily school: Teens in our PHP maintain their academic studies. We help your child stay on track with their studies through morning school sessions coordinated with our local school system.
- Medication management: Medication can positively affect many teens. We work closely with your family to provide careful guidance and treatment tailored to your child’s unique needs.
A Typical Day in the Teen Partial Hospitalization Program
The teen PHP runs during the day, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at our location in Louisville, KY. Therapists have experience working with the unique needs of adolescents. Therapists center activities and topics around the needs of each group.

- Medication management as needed
- Weekly sessions with a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner
