Adult Treatment Services

The Brook Hospital – KMI offers psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for adults, 18 and older.

Transitional Living Program

What to expect:

Prior to admission into one of our adult units, a clinician will conduct an assessment—evaluating the patient’s mental, physical and spiritual needs—to determine the most appropriate level of care. Our psychiatrist-led team then develops an individual treatment plan for each patient and meets regularly to review progress and to update treatment goals. Additionally, family members are encouraged to participate in treatment team and family sessions.

The length of stay varies based on the individual needs of the patient. Every patient that is admitted into one of our programs has an individualized treatment plan. Length of stay is determined by a multidisciplinary team that includes the physician and the patient.

Levels of Care

The level of care recommended is determined by the individual needs of the patient.

Adult Chemical Dependency Services

  • Support programs for families
  • Specialized treatment for opioid addiction
  • One on one treatment
  • Addictionologist on staff

All programs are individually structured to focus on breaking the denial of chemical dependency and beginning the process of recovery.

Treatment and Discharge Planning

Before admission to any of the adult psychiatric programs, patients receive a comprehensive assessment of their mental, physical and spiritual needs to determine the most appropriate level of care. The treatment team then develops an individual treatment plan for each patient and meets regularly to review each patient’s progress and to update treatment goals. Family members are also invited to participate in treatment team and family sessions.

The Brook Hospitals recognize that the recovery process is a lifelong one and therefore discharge planning begins upon admission. The treatment team works closely with each patient to set realistic goals for continuing care following treatment and makes available information or referral for further services as necessary.
