Seniors – Dupont Location

Seniors

The Brook Hospital – Dupont offers senior-specific programming, designed to meet the unique needs of older adults experiencing problems with psychiatric illnesses, emotional problems and/or substance abuse.

Our goal is to provide the highest level of direct patient care that is possible. This treatment includes physical, social, spiritual, medical and psychotherapeutic interventions. We focus on treating exacerbated mental health symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia; such as depression, irritability, combativeness or aggression, non-compliance with medication or need to re-evaluate current medication regiment.

Levels of Care

  • Psychiatric Inpatient
  • Senior Perspectives Outpatient

Treatment and Discharge Planning

Before admission to any of the senior programs, patients receive a comprehensive assessment of their mental, physical and spiritual needs to determine the most appropriate level of care. Our psychiatrist-led treatment team then develop an individualized treatment plan and meet with the patients regularly to review their progress and to update treatment goals. Family members are also invited to participate in treatment team and family sessions.

We recognize that the recovery and healing process is lifelong, therefore discharge planning begins immediately upon admission. The treatment team works closely with each patient to set realistic goals for continuing care following treatment and makes available information or referral for further services as necessary.
