The Brook Hospital – KMI and The Brook Hospital – Dupont offer programming for seniors designed to meet the unique needs of older adults experiencing problems with psychiatric illnesses, emotional problems and/or substance abuse.
We aim to provide the highest level of direct patient care that is possible, which includes physical, social, spiritual, medical and psychotherapeutic treatment interventions. We focus on treating exacerbated symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia; such as depression, irritability, combativeness or aggression, non-compliance with medication or need to re-evaluate current medication regime.
Before admission to any of the senior programs, patients receive a comprehensive assessment of their mental, physical and spiritual needs to determine the most appropriate level of care. The treatment team, led by the attending psychiatrist, develops an individual treatment plan for each patient and meets regularly to review each patient’s progress and to update treatment goals. Family members are also invited to participate in treatment team and family sessions. We recognize that recovery and healing is a lifelong process and therefore discharge planning begins upon admission. The treatment team works closely with each patient to set realistic goals for continuing care following treatment and makes available information or referral for further services as necessary.
We cannot offer diagnosis, counseling or recommendations online, but an Assessment and Referral specialist is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 502-426-6380. If you are currently experiencing an emergency, please dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
